Hi Winthrop! I'm so excited to be a resident tutor in the house. I was born in Vancouver, Canada to Ethiopian parents. My family moved around a lot when I was growing up, so I consider both Richmond, VA and Durham, NC to be home. I graduated from Duke University in 2017, where I majored in evolutionary anthropology and minored in political science.

After college, I worked for two years at a urology clinical research lab at the Durham VA Hospital. I am a graduate of the joint MD/MBA program at Harvard. As a student, I was a founding member of the Disabilities in Medicine and Dentistry Working Group, a Harvard Medical School organization that works to increase attention to disability topics in medical education. My journey to medical school had unexpected twists, and I am passionate about helping premed students in Winthrop House navigate their own journeys and discover where they belong within medicine. I’m currently a first year ophthalmology resident at Boston Medical Center, and my interests include disability health care and global health.

In my free time, I enjoy reading, traveling, and studying French. I am always available to chat about this or anything else! I am looking forward to getting to know you.
