My name is Nivanthika Wimalasena and I'm excited to be an NRT at Winthrop. I am originally from Kansas (by way of Sri Lanka) and was Winthrop Class of 2014. As a college student I concentrated in Chemical and Physical Biology with a secondary in Global Health and Health Policy and was involved with Harvard Radcliffe Chorus and mentoring through DREAM and PBHA. After graduating, I worked for a year at a biotech start-up in Cambridge and then moved over to the Longwood campus where I just finished my PhD in Neurobiology. I am now a few weeks into a job as a Scientist at Decibel Therapeutics, which is committed to developing gene therapies for monogenic hearing loss.
