Claudia Nmai is a PhD student in Sociology. Broadly, her research interests lie at the intersection of policing, race/ethnicity, and family life. Her current work explores how encounters with and perceptions of the criminal-legal system shape identity and family life for Black individuals in the U.S. Prior to beginning her graduate studies, Claudia was a Research Assistant in the Justice and Safety Division at the Urban Institute. She received her B.A. in Sociology from Stanford University.
