Sometimes we joke and say that Sean and I are almost the same person except that he has a beard. We do have a history of similarly blessed associations with Harvard from the time of our undergraduate careers in the class of 1967. We met at Harvard and married shortly after graduation and before starting medical school and graduate school.

My focus in pediatrics has largely been on community medicine and advocacy both in the US and globally. Sean and I teach a course at the Harvard Extension School on Child Health in America and Around the World. I have had the honor to serve as the President of the American Academy of Pediatrics and to be involved in a number of national policy projects involving child health, equity and racial justice.

Sean and I have three wonderful children and five grandchildren that we adore and are now happy to have more time to spend with them and their adventures.

I love the Red Sox (and the Orioles) and am an ardent shellfisher woman. Also happy to do bit parts in any theater production. (Once I was even the hind end of a horse).
