Liz McKenna

Liz McKenna is an assistant professor of public policy at Harvard Kennedy School, specializing in social movements and civic engagement across the political spectrum and primarily in the US and Brazil. She has co-authored two books on democratic organizing and has two other book projects underway, one on political transformations in the digital age in Brazil and the other on methods for measuring the efficacy of collective action. She is the faculty director of the Civic Power Lab at HKS and leads a research-practice network of academics and pro-democracy civil society groups. Liz received her BA in social studies from Harvard College in 2008 and her PhD in sociology from UC Berkeley in 2020.
