Resident Tutor
Mamfatou Baldeh

Hello! My name is Mamfatou Baldeh and I am overjoyed to be a part of the Winthrop House Resident Tutor team! I was born and raised in The Bronx, New York to parents who emigrated from The Gambia and Senegal in West Africa. I've spent nearly all my life living in NYC and am slowly embracing the quaintness of Cambridge (open to all recommendations for truly experiencing the area and larger Boston!). I'm currently a 2nd year PhD student at Harvard's Graduate School of Education (HGSE) in the Human Development, Learning and Teaching (HDLT) concentration and I am passionate about promoting identity development for youth to dissolve inequities in schools and create lasting social change. As an undergraduate student, I majored in psychology and my interests in wellbeing and social relationships still inform my research at HGSE. When I'm not doing research, you can probably catch me napping, watching horror movies, or binging true crime podcasts (as a homebody, I'll also most likely be in my suite, so please stop by!). I value time for reflection, spiritual practice, and deep conversations, and I will also be joining the Winthrop community with my partner, Pa Modou. We are so excited to get to know you all!
