Pat Ray

Senior Common Room

My first career commenced in 1972 when I graduated from nursing school in Philadelphia. As a registered nurse, one of my most notable work experiences was caring for burn children at Shriners Hospital in Boston. Raising a family while completing a juris doctor in 1983 was my next adventure. For about 35 years my law practice emphasized health provider contracting and Medicare/ Medicaid compliance issues. Fourteen of those years were spent in California and the rest in Missouri. During these times I had the opportunity to serve on hospital boards both in California and Missouri, further enhancing my learning on the intricacies and complexities of the healthcare environment. In 2012, I was appointed co-chair of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau Missouri and was selected as a trustee of the Cape Girardeau County Public Health Center. As trustee, I had the opportunity to spearhead the County’s participation in a private opioid drug monitoring program by developing a compliance ordinance. In 2019, we moved to Gloucester, MA. Currently I serve as a member of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) at Massachusetts General Hospital and work as a permissions consultant for Copy Write Consultants, LLC.
