My career in healthcare (RN) law (JD) evolved from “candy striper” nurse (1964) to working with burn victims at the MGH Shriners Burn Institute ICU. I graduated as a a Medical Ethicist (BA) from the University of Buffalo and completed my law degree at Catholic University, becoming a Health Law specialist. This matured my interests and direction in maintaining a vibrant law practice while engaging in teaching law and serving on hospital executive Boards and committees as their healthcare and law specialist and diving into health systems growth. I served on Internal Review Boards at hospitals and eventually was called to the County Board of Health in Cape Girardeau, MO as a Trustee. One interesting task was to write the opioid ordinances that became the functional model for much of Missouri. Now I serve as a member of the Internal Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) at Mass General Hospital. Since joining my husband (1973) Joel (Winthrop ’73), we have much enjoyed Harvard students and hosting the Crew team for pasta dinners.

In 2019, Joel and I retired and moved to our ancestral coastal home in Gloucester, Massachusetts, where we joyously look forward to visitors from the Winthrop House SCR students and faculty.
