Allston Burr Resident Dean, Winthrop House
Assistant Dean of Harvard College
Remei Capdevila Werning

Hello Winthropians! I am your Resident Dean. I am here to provide academic and personal advice and support, and to help you navigate Harvard’s many resources. I also represent Winthrop students on the Ad Board and work with you on any petitions you may file. Mostly, I look forward to getting to know each of you! So please get in touch with me and don’t hesitate to contact me regarding anything that may be on your mind.

I am originally from Olot, a town amidst volcanoes in Catalonia, Spain. I received a B.A. in Philosophy and a B.A. in Translation and Interpreting at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, where I also completed my Ph.D. in Philosophy. Before finishing my dissertation, I pursued a SMArchS in History, Theory, and Criticism of Architecture and Art at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and was a predoctoral visiting scholar at Harvard. Prior to joining Harvard, I taught at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, at Oberlin College, and served as Director of Education and Public Programs at El Museo del Barrio in New York City.

In addition to my role as Resident Dean, I am a Lecturer in the Department of Philosophy, where I teach courses in aesthetics and philosophy of architecture, my fields of expertise. My current research focuses on intergenerational aesthetics, philosophical issues of preservation and geoheritage, and aesthetics of borderlands. Aside from chatting about philosophy, I enjoy baking, most kinds of music, and discussing all things related to Catalonia and Catalan language and culture.

My husband, Peter Minosh, and our sons Iggy and Cy – seven and five respectively – are with me at Winthrop. Peter is an architectural historian and native Massachusettan who is looking forward to sharing with you his intellectual and other interests as a resident affiliate of Winthrop. You will find Iggy and Cy playing at the Standish yard and hopefully not making that much of a mess at the dining hall.

We love being part of the Winthrop community!
