Bike Room

The bike room is in the basement of Standish Hall, at the end of the corridor past the music practice rooms. The bike room provides a space for Winthropians to store their bikes away from the weather.

Access to the bike room can be requested by Winthrop residents. See below for a link to the request form. Please make sure to read and follow the following conditions on the use of the bike room.

  • Winthrop students can request card access to the bike room for the current academic year. Access must be requested each academic year. Approval of access is not guaranteed and may depend on available space and the number of items a student is requesting to store.
  • When requesting access, Winthropians must provide details of what they intend to store in the bike room.
  • The bike room can be used to store only bikes, scooters, skis, and snowboards. It is not a general storage area and can not be used to store furniture, boxes, or other items. Items in the bike room that haven't been registered may be removed and discarded at any time.
  • Winthrop House takes no responsibility for damage or for lost or stolen items.
  • Summer storage: students can request to store registered items over the summer (i.e., only bikes, scooters, skis, and snowboards), provided that they will be returning as Winthrop residents in the Fall and they clearly mark their registered items with their name and contact details.
    • Tags/labels for marking registered items over the summer are available from the Winthrop Security Office.
    • If the student ends up not returning to Winthrop, it is the student's responsibility to arrange for the registered item(s) to be moved from the bike room by September 15 at the latest; otherwise the item may be considered abandoned and will be disposed of.
  • Registered items that have not been approved for summer storage must be removed from the bike room by the student's move-out day. Any registered item left after that date will be considered abandoned and may be disposed of.
